BIGGLESWADE CHRONICLE: LOCAL WEDDINGS
Elliman-Bygraves. A very charming wedding took place at the Trinity Methodist Church, Biggleswade, on Saturday when Mr Alfred Elliman, son of Mrs and the late Mr Geo. Elliman, of Biggleswade Road, Caldecote, and Miss Ivy Maud Bygraves, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs A W Bygraves, of 26 Lawrence Road, Biggleswade, were married. The resident minister, the Rev. A F Wolton, officiated. Two hymns were sung with Mr Ernest Shepherd at the organ. They were "The Voice that breathed o'er Eden" and "O perfect love". The bride, who was given away by her father, was tastefully attired in an ankle length gown of peach satin beaute, with picture hat, shoes and hose to match, and carried a bouquet of deep cream rose buds. The bride wore a gold and crystal pendant, the gift of the bridegroom. There were two bridesmaids, Miss Beryl Milton, of Letchworth (a cousin of the bride) and Miss Joyce Elliman (niece of the bridegroom). They wore ankle length gold satin dresses with wreaths of gold leaves in their hair. Their bouquets were of bronze chrysanthemums and they wore gold and crystal pendants, the gifts of the bridegroom. Mr A W Bygraves gave his daughter away and Mr Kenneth Elliman (a brother of the bridegroom) was the best man. As the bride left the Church she was presented with a lucky horse shoe by Miss Christine Rutt. A reception was afterwards held at the home of the bride's parents. Mr and Mrs Elliman were the recipients of about forty useful presents, including a frameless mirror and plant pot from the bride's work-mates at the Spirella Works, Letchworth. He bouquet was afterwards place on the bridegroom's father's grave at Upper Caldecote. Mr and Mrs Elliman will reside at Fairfield Road, Biggleswade. |
