Link to Google MapsNewspaper Report - CAMBRIDGE DAILY NEWS: MARRIAGE OF MR F O SENNITT.- A very pretty wedding took place at the Wesleyan Chapel, Ely, on Tuesday, the contracting parties being Mr Frederick Oliver Sennitt, of Cambridge (formerly of Stretham) and Miss Anna Mary Legge, daughter of Mr Christopher Legge, of High-street, Ely. Considerable interest was manifested, from the fact that the parties were well known. By the time appointed for the ceremony - twelve o?clock - a large number of people had occupied seats in the chapel, whilst Miss Granger, of Ely, played at the organ. After the arrival of Mr Percy Sennitt (best man) and other friends and relatives, the bride entered, leaning on the arm of her father. She was attired in a dress of white satin and mauve, trimmed with lace and chiffon, and wore a veil and real orange blossoms, whilst she carried a shower bouquet. Four bridesmaids were in attendance, viz., the Misses Jennie and Pattie Legge, sisters of the bride, and the Misses L and Maud Palmer, cousins of the bridegroom. They were prettily dressed in cream-coloured material, trimmed with lemon silk, with hats to match, and also wore brooches, the gifts of the bridegroom, whilst they carried baskets of roses, lilies of the valley, irises, and maidenhair fern. The Rev A R Routledge, from the Mission Hall, Stretham, conducted the service, and was assisted by the Rev C Brighouse, superintendent of the Wesleyan Circuit. The beautiful hymn, "The voice that breathed o'er Eden," was sung, and the ceremony over, the wedded pair and the bridesmaids made their way to their carriages, amidst a lively shower of confetti. Subsequently the parties repaired to the residence of the bridge, and thirty sat down to the wedding breakfast. Late in the day, Mr and Mrs Sennitt left Ely to spend the honeymoon at Brighton. The bride?s travelling dress was of blue coating, with white moire, the collar and cuffs being trimmed with braid. The wedding presents number upwards of a hundred. - 19 Apr 1899 - Ely, Cambs Link to Google Earth
