    Notes
    • GREAT EASTON
Double Wedding. An event of unusual interest took place at Great Easton on Tuesday morning, when two daughters of Mr John Culpin were married. A double wedding is of very rare occurrence, and few people now living can remember such an event in this village. Friendly congratulations and good wishes were freely showered on upon the brides elect, and wedding presents both of useful and ornamental description were presented. The contracting parties were John Hopkins, of Staploe, Bedfordshire, to Annie Amelia Culpin, and Harry John Chamberlain, of Rothwell, Northamptonshire, to Lydia Sarah Culpin. The brides, whose dresses were of fawn colour, carried a bouquet each and were escorted to church by their father, who took one on each arm. The bridesmaids, who were arrayed in reseda dresses, each carrying a pretty basket of flowers, were Miss Laura Chamberlain, and the Misses Fanny Mary and Ethra Jennie Culpin. A large number of friends and visitors assembled in the church to await the arrival of the bridal party, and witness the marriage ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. Canon Whyley, vicar, assisted by the Rey. C. J. Farr, curate. [5]
