The bride was Miss Lydia Naomi Culpin, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs James Culpin, Fen Drayton, and the bridegroom Pte Robert McDermott, Coldstream Guards, youngest son of the late Mr M McDermott and Mrs McDermott, South Shields. The Rev. A P Senior officiated. The bridge, who was given away by her father, looked charming in silver grey crepe merle, with bridal veil and orange blossom. Attending her were two bridesmaids, her sister, Miss Nellie Culpin, and her cousin, Miss Nancy Culpin. Their dresses were of vieux rose crepe merle, with hats of back and vieux rose to match, and each wore a regimental badge, the gift of the bridegroom. Sergt. H J Culpin, Bedford Regt, brother of the bridge, was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents.
